Geoff Hoatson CEO & Founder

Geoff is the founder and CEO of the Family First Firm. Born in Oregon, his family relocated to Orlando when he was a small child, so he considers himself a proud semi-native of Central Florida. He attended the University of Central Florida (go Knights!) where he graduated with honors and a degree in business administration. After college, he decided to attend Emory University for law school. Upon graduating from Emory, he returned to Orlando to marry his fiancee, start a family, and begin practicing law.

In 2009, Geoff decided to start his own practice, and he has dedicated the last decade to serving seniors and families throughout Central Florida. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and their two little girls. He loves to travel and enjoy the outdoors with his family and frequently visits the Pacific Northwest. When he's not preoccupied with the firm or the family, you can usually find him reading a good book, trading timepieces, or playing the piano.

Beth Roland Managing Attorney

Attorney Beth Roland practices in probate, trust administration, guardianship, estate planning, and Medicaid. Beth earned her Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Sweet Briar College. She is a member of the Florida Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the Florida State Guardianship Association, the Seminole County Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association, and the Seminole Health and Human Services Network.

Beth has served as a court-appointed Court Monitor in guardianship proceedings and has experience serving as a Qualified Guardian Ad Litem and volunteering for the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA). She also volunteers her time writing an appellate brief for the Guardian Ad Litem Program’s Defending Best Interest Project. Beth has authored articles and publications on estate planning, probate, and guardianship. She has also served as a speaker on various elder law topics for the National Business Institute Continuing Legal Education Program and the Florida State Guardianship Association. Beth is a certified volunteer for the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council. She and her family also volunteer their time at multiple animal rescue organizations.

Arienne Valencia Medicaid Attorney

Arienne Valencia is an associate attorney devoted to the practice of elder law. She received her Juris Doctor with a Certificate of Concentration in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws in Elder Law. While in law school, Arienne served as a court intern with the probate and guardianship division of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit and served as a Center Fellow at the Center for Excellence in Elder Law.

Prior to joining the Family First Firm, Arienne practiced estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship. Now, she is expanding her practice to Medicaid and long-term care planning. Arienne is a member of the Elder Law Section and Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar and was published in the Journal of Aging Law and Policy. As a recent Orlando resident, Arienne enjoys exploring Orlando with her corgi puppy, Solaire. In her free time, Arienne loves traveling, attending concerts and music festivals, and aquatic activities.

Corinne Huston Estate Planning Attorney

Corinne Huston is an associate attorney devoted to the practice of estate planning. She is an Orlando native and is proud to serve the Central Florida community. She attended the University of South Florida where she interned in the United States Senate and graduated with a degree in Political Science. She then graduated from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law in 2018 with her J.D. and certificates of concentration in both Family Law and Pro Bono for her work serving indigent clients. Throughout law school, she focused on estate planning, probate, and guardianship matters at a private firm. As an attorney, she now specializes in crafting tailored estate plans for her clients to ensure that their legacies are protected.

Professionally, Corinne is active in the Orange County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and volunteers through the Wills for Heroes event drafting free estate planning documents for everyday heroes in our community since 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her spouse and cats, attending comedy shows, and enjoying exploring the great outdoors.

Haley Hestbeck Guardianship & Probate Attorney

Haley Hestbeck is an attorney concentrating her practice on guardianship and probate matters. She was born and raised in Orlando and is a proud Double Gator. Haley first received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in 2016 with a major in anthropology and a minor in communication studies. She then continued her studies in Gainesville and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Haley was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2019 and returned to Orlando where she began her legal career at a small firm focusing on estate planning, probate, and guardianship matters, helping clients prepare for their own futures and manage the estates of their loved ones.

Outside of practicing law, Haley enjoys spending time with her spouse, playing with their two dogs, Lulu and Kyba, and traveling with her family.

Michelle Astor Chief Operating Officer

Michelle is originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but moved to Central Florida in 1992, where she has resided since. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, where she majored in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in health services administration and social sciences. Michelle is always helping someone! In particular, she loves helping the elderly community. She provides families with professional guidance and heartfelt support. Michelle is passionate about serving others and has dedicated her career to doing just that.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her hubby, her beautiful daughters, and her whipador and golden retriever: Rocco and Rusty.

Amber Poling Director of Finance & Human Relations

Amber is a Central Florida native. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida, where she majored in Education. She has a passion for helping people! Amber spent the last decade helping people in the healthcare field, and now she has joined our team to continue to help people from the legal side.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son. Her son is passionate about baseball, so many weekends are spent in the stands cheering him on. During the off-season, she enjoys traveling with her family. Her family is rounded out with three pups, Sadie, Aspen, and Charlie.

Jessica De Leon Director of Operations

A native of California, she moved to Florida when she was just seven. She graduated from Lake Brantley High School and received her associate’s degree at City College for Medical Office Administration. Before joining Family First Firm, she gained over five years of experience with Medicaid and elder law.

Married with three amazing kids, she loves going to the beach, spending time with her family, and cheering on her kids at their sporting events.

Matthew has called Central Florida home since the day he was born and is proud to serve the Orlando community. After first fostering his leadership skills by participating in Seminole State College’s Leadership Institute, Matthew went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Florida (go Gators!). He values giving back to the community and actively participates in his high school’s alumni association. With 15 years of professional experience in helping seniors and families, Matthew takes pride in putting family first.
 

While away from work, you can find Matthew at a local theme park or attending a CrossFit event with his wife and two young kids.

Patti Small Client Engagement Specialist

After graduating high school in Morgantown, Kentucky, Patti served three years of active duty army. She later put her roots down in Cincinnati, Ohio, to raise her son and daughter, both of which are also veterans. Patti is also a proud grandmother of two grandchildren. Most of Patti's professional life has been spent educating and assisting seniors and their loved ones. She is grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives.

In her spare time, she enjoys boating, riding her trike, and spending time with her husband, friends, and family.

Yelitza Rivera Business Development Manager

Yelitza was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Orlando with her immediate family as a young adult. She started her career in Long Term Care in 2005, and she's had the pleasure of serving the seniors in the West Orange and Greater Orlando area since then.

These days, she enjoys exploring different areas in Central Florida - from botanical gardens and state parks to lighthouses, beaches, and biking/hiking trails. Her husband and three children join in on these fun adventures.

Corinna was born in Guyana, South America. She moved to the United States at the age of six and has lived in Central Florida ever since. She recently graduated from Valencia College and is currently attending UCF to pursue her bachelor’s degree in legal studies. Corinna plans on attending FAMU Law School after UCF. She has over ten years of experience in the legal field and enjoys helping others, especially our elderly community.

Maricarmen Garcia is a Florida Registered Paralegal specializing in guardianship and Medicaid. She has a dual bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, where she majored in Healthcare Administration and Public Administration with a minor in Gerontology. She is passionate about helping people and brings over 20 years of Healthcare and Medicaid experience to Family First Firm.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, and grandchildren. On Friday nights you will find her cheering her daughter on the sidelines. Maricarmen is excited about the new football season and will be visiting her son who has committed to Valdosta State University to play college football. When she is not running around you will find her relaxing at the beach with her husband.

She has 4 children, including identical twin boys, which keep her very busy. She considers herself the biggest Ohio State football fan ever and enjoys watching and playing sports of all kinds. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and kids, traveling, reading, and baking.

While Marvelis was born in New York, she considers herself a Florida native. Her passion was found at a young age, having been in the healthcare industry since she was 16. Marvelis brings six years of Medicaid experience to the firm. She is a mother to a son who loves all sports but especially the New York Mets and Knicks.

In her spare time, besides spending time with her son and family (she is the oldest of four), she loves dancing, fitness, reading, and motivating women through her social media platforms to be the best version of themselves. She enjoys laughing and always trying to bring a smile to her clients' faces.

Laurie hails from a small beach town in Boston, Massachusetts. She later moved to Florida with her three children seeking warmer weather. Before working with Family First Firm, Laurie had a successful career in real estate working as a broker as well as working in the restaurant industry. She later went back to school and earned her degree in Health Services Administration which led her to become an assistant to the business office manager at a skilled nursing facility in Melbourne, Florida.

In her spare time, Laurie enjoys spending time with her family, boating, fishing, and relaxing at the beach. When she's not exploring the great outdoors or with her family you can find her painting, making crafts, watching sports, and partaking in happy hour.

Rose brings over 20 years of healthcare and Medicaid experience to the firm. One of her passions is providing peace of mind to seniors and their loved ones. Rose is a proud UCF alum where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree.

Born in Vermont, Lindsay moved to Florida in 1989 with her parents and two sisters. She is currently attending Seminole State College to complete her business management degree. Before joining the Family First Firm, Lindsay spent 12 years in corporate law firms in the downtown Orlando area. She enjoys customer service, event planning, and seems to have found her niche.

Lindsay enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. Much of her spare time is spent supporting her three children in the sports they participate in: softball, baseball, volleyball, weightlifting, and basketball. You name it; they play it – and she is their number one fan. She also enjoys being active in the community by volunteering at the elementary and high schools, local food pantry, and city events.

Sarah is a proud native from Altamonte Springs. She earned her bachelor's in psychology from Rollins College Hamilton Holt School and has over five years of administrative support experience, primarily in the legal sector.

Outside of the office, Sarah is an avid traveler, visiting family in Colombia, living in Portugal for two months, and visiting her favorite country, Iceland. When she's not traveling, you might find her kayaking in the springs or sweating in a hot yoga class.

She also loves dancing, going on tropical vacations, and watching romantic comedies. As for her hobbies, she likes to practice makeup; it is a hobby that she has always loved and that has quickly turned into a huge passion of hers.

Erica was born in Florida but she grew up in the Philippines where most of her family is. She came back to Florida for college where she is currently studying for her BA in Accounting. Erica is incredibly close to her family and adores her little zoo of reptiles and small mammals.

When her nose is not stuck in a finance book for class, you can find her kayaking through the springs, lounging out at the beach, having weekend lunches while painting, checking out the sights in nearby towns for fun, or simply just vegging at home with some classics.

She has spent the last 16 years as an administrative assistant and feels truly fulfilled when she is helping clients and their loved ones on their journey to peace of mind.

When she's not at work, you can find Heather immersing herself in the world of beauty. She has a passion for all aspects of the beauty industry and plans on owning her own beauty bar one day. She also loves spending time with her amazing family and fur babies Kit, Evie, and Scrappy. On the weekends you will most likely find Heather at her happy place, the beach, or getting creative with crafting and various DIY projects.
