Happy Hanukkah!

Today is the first day of the Festival of Lights. On this Jewish Holiday a Menorah is lit for eight nights to commemorate the miracle of Hanukkah. On the first night the raised candle, the Shamash, is used to light one candle. Each night after, another flame is lit until the eighth night when all eight candles shine bright.

Can you guess what this is?

A Dreidel! A dreidel is a top with the letters nun, gimmel, hei, and shin, that is used to play games on Hanukkah. Nun, gimmel, hei, and shin is an acronym for nes gadol hayah sham which means “a great miracle happened here”.

Happy Hannukah to those who celebrate!

Enjoy some latkes, I know I will!
